Choosing a platform

We recommend one after the brief, with the reasons. This is how they compare.

PlatformBest forHosting and upkeepWatch out for
ShopifyThe fastest launch with the least maintenance.Hosted by Shopify, which looks after servers, security and updates. You pay a Shopify subscription plus any paid apps.Checkout and some store logic can only be changed within what Shopify allows. App subscriptions add up.
WooCommerceStores that need control, or businesses already on WordPress.Self-hosted on WordPress. You pay for hosting and any paid extensions, and the site needs regular updates and backups.More moving parts than a hosted platform. Speed and security depend on hosting quality and on keeping extensions few.
PrestaShopSelf-hosted stores that sell in several languages and currencies.Self-hosted. You pay for hosting and for any paid modules, and updates and security patches must be applied regularly, by you or under a care plan. Many features come from paid modules, and module quality varies, so unusual features can mean custom work.
OpenCartA self-hosted store without WordPress, with a simple catalogue.Self-hosted. You pay for hosting, and updates and security patches must be applied regularly, by you or under a care plan.A smaller extension marketplace than Shopify or WooCommerce, so unusual features can mean custom work.
Magento (Adobe Commerce)Large catalogues, complex B2B pricing, or several stores on one back end.Magento Open Source is free software that you host yourself. Adobe Commerce is the licensed version and can run on Adobe's cloud. Either way it needs capable hosting and regular security patches. The heaviest platform to run. Hosting, licence and upgrade costs are higher and upgrades are projects, so we only recommend it when the requirement is real.
Custom eCommercePricing rules, workflows or integrations that the other platforms cannot handle.Built to your requirements and hosted where you choose. Maintenance is agreed in a care plan. The highest build cost, so we only recommend it when the requirement is real.

What we do not do.

So there are no surprises after the quote.

  • We do not promise sales or search rankingsWe guarantee price, measured quality and 30 days of fixes.
  • We do not sell link-buildingTechnical SEO and content structure only.
  • We do not add plugins for the sake of itFewer moving parts means fewer updates that break the site.
  • We do not start work without a written quoteChanges in scope are quoted in writing before we do them.

Service questions

If yours is not here, ask on the call.

What can you connect my store or website to?

Payments, shipping, accounting, CRM and email, inventory and ERP, analytics, and booking, forms and chat on brand sites. If a system has an API or webhooks we can usually connect it, and we confirm that when we scope the work. Third-party subscriptions and licences stay with you.

Which eCommerce platforms do you build on?

Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento (Adobe Commerce), PrestaShop, OpenCart and custom eCommerce. Shopify suits a fast launch with little maintenance. WooCommerce suits stores that need control or already run WordPress. PrestaShop and OpenCart suit a self-hosted store without WordPress. Magento suits large catalogues, complex B2B pricing or several stores. Custom eCommerce suits pricing, workflows or integrations that those platforms cannot handle. The brief decides, not our preference.

Can I edit the website myself after launch?

Yes. Every build includes a short training session and a written guide, so you can change text, images, products and blog posts without us.

What does technical SEO include?

Site structure, page titles and descriptions, sitemaps, redirects, Core Web Vitals, structured data and an AI-search readiness check. We do not sell link-building or guaranteed rankings.

What is AI-search readiness?

It means making your pages easy for AI assistants to understand and quote: clear answers near the top, question-style headings, complete structured data and an llms.txt file. It builds on good SEO rather than replacing it, and it does not guarantee that any assistant will mention you.

What happens if I need something after the 30 days?

You can add a Care plan from $199 a month, or buy a block of hours. Either way you get a fixed quote before any work starts.

Not sure which one?

A 30-minute call. You leave with a recommended platform, a rough scope and a price range, even if you never hire us.

  • We reply within one working dayTell us what you are selling and what you need.
  • A 30-minute callPlatform, scope and a price range, with no obligation.
  • A fixed quoteOr an honest note if we are not the right studio.
